Pomelo – The Lucky Fruit
The Chinese pronunciation of Pomelo is ‘you’, the same with ‘bless’. Chinese use the peels and leaves of pomelo for preparing ceremonial baths by boiling them. The purpose is to cleanse the person and repel evil.
Pomelo is the largest citrus with pear shaped and 15- 25 cm in diameter. The green to yellow peel is thick and smooth. The juicy flesh is mostly white, but can also be pink or red, depending on the type. The taste is sweet and slightly sour.
Pomelo is sometimes called Pummelo, Chinese grapefruit, Jabong, Lusho fruit, Papanas or Shaddock.
Do not throw away pomelo peel. Put the peel of pomelo in the room or refrigerator, it can absorb smell.
